ABOUT ME

My sister asked when I knew that the camera was my thing… I told her it was the first time I looked through the viewfinder and realized that I got to keep what I saw… to shape it and share it.

Raised on photography, I spend my days, camera in hand, watching life eddy and pool around me like a wide, wild river.¬†Wedding photography is a lot like that river… there is always a story to tell and my job is to tell it with wit and passion. Having said that, yes, there are lots of wedding related posts and images on this site… but it is not the sum total of my work.

I have been self employed as a professional photographer in Portland since 1987. I count myself lucky to do what I love to make a living. ¬†You will find that I do portrait work, both corporate and family. I also get to do theatre work… the first 16 seasons of Profile Theatre were mine to archive. Before that, there was a 10 year run with Tygres Heart Shakespeare Company. I have a few special clients in the restaurant world where I do food and interiors… kind of a lifestyle approach for their websites.

And, when the dust settles, I shoot for myself… you can ask my friends. My idea of a good time is to take the camera out for a stretch. You will see some of that on this site.

I hope you will take the time to wander through… talk back, ok?
Thanks,
Jamie

    Hi Jamie,
We met across the table at Mark Toal’s confab earlier in the week.
I enjoyed your website…you do beautiful, intimate work!
I picked up my new GH4 yesterday and it seems to be quite the amazing creative tool. I popped a converter and a Nikkor 400mm f2.8 on it and was astounded with both the stills and the video. As an aside, I’ve found that shooting video is getting my creative juices flowing again.
    Hope to see you again!
    Best,
    Ken
