You might not know it, but behind the scenes at every wedding swirls a cast of thousands!
Maybe it just seems that way but it’s a favorite part of the day for me… maybe it’s the only gambling I do as I watch the teamwork at hand from the beginning to the end.
Next door to the dance floor was a staging room of sorts… I walked by and saw a cake… of sorts. The small room was gradually taken over by three guest performers. All of them getting into the mood and waiting for show time.
I asked Crystal Lynn to let me have a moment of her time before she climbed into the cake… the crowd loved the unexpected show!
Behind the scenes is always an adventure. ;0)
BTW, check out Peter Corvallis Productions if you are in need of interesting bits.
Happy to help!!
The Power of Pie is almost equal to the power of a summer day. Together, they are an unstoppable combination. ;0)
Heather and Derek had a sweet wedding in the beautiful backyard of a family friend. The yard was tented against the heat and, after the ceremony, several large tables were set with flowers and food. A quiet social hum punctuated by small children running in the grass made a perfect backdrop to this wedding day. A little after 5:00, the pies came out of the kitchen and the crowd started to move towards the patio. Derek is a cheesecake man so the top of the pie tower was a small and mighty cheesecake… a few minutes later, he was wearing a smear of cheesecake on his left cheek and Heather was grinning a lot. After the laughing and the cleanup, the kids closed in for pie. After all, pie is good for you.
Brides Rule the Day at the Jupiter Hotel! It should have been the headline on the Sunday morning paper this weekend!
My two cool brides, Melissa & Mia, brought such a confident spark to their wedding day that the crowd was more involved than many I have seen. It was really great to see the level of happy going on. I can’t wait to work through all of their images… it’s going to make me smile all over again.
In all of this, I finally had a chance to work with the delightful Melissa Coe, an officiant held in high regard here in Portland. I was not disappointed and as we chatted a little during the day, I was pleased to find a kindred spirit in her. Not all wedding vendors are created equal so when I find the ones that fit, I am elated. ;0)
Getting married? I’d love to talk to you!
A kind of Heaven can be found in Oregon most of the year but as Summer starts to travel into Fall, there is a special quality to the light… it’s my favorite time for country weddings. Oregon’s wine country is where you should start your search. Take a late afternoon tour of a few vineyards that offer weddings… go see what they look like in the soft evening light. The mid-day sun will be too harsh. The image above was taken just after 7:00 on the last day of August… we were on a quiet road outside of Vista Hills Vineyard a few years ago. From where I stood, it might as well have been Tuscany… it was a Heaven, indeed!
A little back story for that day – it rained buckets before the ceremony and the catering company expected the bride to give up on the outdoor plans. She persevered, the caterers reset the soggy tables and we had the most astounding skies for getting married under!
