Adeline Farms is a nice stretch of country road just east of Woodland, Washington. By the time you roll through the gates, you will have left the city and it’s cares behind.
Jenny and Muriel are partners in this property and have showered it with love and attention… all quite evident at their own wedding there last summer. It was an over the top event in many ways but I think it was great that they tried it on for size as an actual wedding couple before they really opened it to the public. The amount of inside information gleaned from that day has no doubt made them a really good team at running Adeline Farms as a venue that people will really enjoy. This is barn weddings with a great dash of class… add that to a B&B rental on the property and you can start to imagine a long and comfortable weekend for you and your guests. Some people even camp there although I think it should be considered “glamping”… they have retrofitted some vintage trailers available to guests. There is plenty of room for tents, too.
Maybe it’s a Northwest thing but the vibe you have in a relaxed crowd at a place where you can put your feet up really makes a great wedding possible. At the fancy hotels or the country clubs, it’s way more straitlaced… certain behaviors are expected. At Adeline Farms, you can take off your shoes and pet the cat while you wait for the fireworks to start. ;0)
Imagine a small loft jammed with lots of pretty girls trying to get ready for a wedding… there must have been close to 20 people all vying for some mirror time… clothes everywhere, curling irons and mascaras competing for the spaces. The fans are blowing, the air conditioner is trying to keep up and the door keeps opening and closing as a parade of people come and go, each on a mission of some sort. In the midst of all this, these two girls were ready ahead of most everyone else so their instructions were to try to stay out from underfoot. It was a treat to watch them watch the room… even Grace, our intrepid flower girl, had to look up from her assignment a few times.
The chaos early in the day is one of my favorite parts of a wedding… mostly people are happy and helping each other and that is a very satisfying vibe to be a part of. ;0)
There is nothing like a beautiful barn for a rustic wedding! This barn has it all… crystal chandeliers, vintage couches and chairs, plenty of space for a big dance floor and a good bar. When you add the good airflow and plenty of light, what you have is one of the more charming barn experiences I have seen. If you like the look of this, you can find more information at Adeline Farms.
This little confab between a bride and her maid of honor was in the breezeway of the barn just before the wedding party strolled down to the huge oak tree for the ceremony… the pug was a guest of honor and behaved himself perfectly. ;0)
The rewards were huge for Jenny and Muriel as they exchanged vows on the 4th of July! When they started this project a couple of years ago, their own wedding wasn’t really in the front of their minds… just the idea that this beautiful piece of property could become something special. The vision had to be combined with the effort and elbow grease… all of the things that can strain a relationship past repair for most people. As I started working with them, I could see how much of a team they truly are.
Adeline Farms is just east of Woodland, Washington… it’s an easy drive from Portland. Once there, you are tucked away from the city life. There are porches to relax on and a great barn to dance in. All in all, I think it’s a great new addition to a Northwest kind of vibe for relaxed events. Knowing these two, they are not done polishing this gem… this is a true labor of love!
There will be many more glimpses as I get through the mountain of images caught that day… can’t wait to go through them all!
