That First Dance

That first dance can be absolutely terrifying for most people. It doesn’t matter how much you have practiced in your living room… reality sets in when you have so many friends watching. And you both know it’s not cool to count out loud and look at each other’s feet.

I like the people whose first dance is a “What the hell, let’s just go for it!” kind of dance. There is always laughing and smiling between them because it really is just about the two of them… and that is what makes for compelling pictures.

Elena and Leigh have been a favorite couple in my long career… they have such an intensely special relationship. They have been in front of my cameras for several important parts of their lives and I am glad to have them in my circle of friends. Engagement to wedding to belly to baby to entire family… seems like we have a grand rhythm in our history so far… I love that I get to see them grow up a little every year.

The rooftop of the Ecotrust is a pretty great space for weddings if you can pick the cooler parts of the season… or if you want a whole lot of sunshine. ;0)

Let’s make happy pictures for your life!

Voodoo is for Lovers

Flanked by the bright pink Voodoo Doughnuts boxes, Matthew makes a bold correction… his opening cut had flipped a piece of doughnut onto the table and Suzanne’s look was enough to alter his original course. She started laughing and the crowd went wild! ;0)

Voodoo Doughnuts, like cupcakes and pies, are on the rise as legitimate wedding treats… they are certainly less formal than a cake and it’s interesting to see how people respond when the sweets are offered. With a cake, each guest will likely have a piece. One. With almost any other type of dessert, it seems like they will have at least two servings since multiple flavors are more obvious. Or maybe doughnuts and cupcakes make us revert to being kids again when one was never enough…. yeah, I think that may be the actual answer. ;0)

Happy to observe and share the culture of our times!
